Bold Care is a new age men’s health and wellness company, acting as a gateway and one-stop-shop for common men’s health issues, such as sexual health, hair care, and daily nutritional deficiencies. By providing access to curated specialists and high-quality allopathy and natural products, it is able to capitalize on a fragmented market segment, which has traditionally been plagued with unsolicited and fraudulent alternatives for seeking medical support. With it’s quick service platform, it is able to bypass traditional alternatives and provide an end-to-end platform with seamless user experience.

Market depth:

India’s online health and wellness market is estimated to be valued at $82Bn by 2025, with rapid digitization (up to 25% in 2025) taking place year on year. Moreover, India has some of the highest rates of common sexual health issues, such as Erectile Dysfunction (ED), Premature Ejaculation (PM), and other fertility related issues. It is estimated that more than 90 million Indian men suffer from common aforementioned health issues, and 60% of all men over the age of 50 suffer from hair loss issues.

In India, For every 25,000 men suffering from sexual wellness, there is only 1 specialist doctor available in urban cities. The odds are much worse for the rest of India residing in other cities and rural areas. To curtail and address this problem, Bold Care is looking to provide direct and personalized access to users with it’s curated panel of sexual wellness experts and allopathy doctors as well as provide high-quality, science-backed products that are effective and safe to use.

The problem at hand:

The market segment for Men’s health and wellness has largely been unorganized and plagued with unsolicited, fraudulent, and corrupt avenues of support. WHO estimates 57.3% of all health practitioners in India are unqualified with no medical background, or training. Moreover, authenticity of medicines (especially prescription-grade) is a big concern. Nearly 77% of all generic Viagra sold globally is counterfeited or the result of cheap formulations. Similar trends have been witnessed in India, with respect to counterfeit and untrustworthy sources of medicines. The target audience here, based on estimates, exceeds the total number of diabetes patients in India. Thus, Bold Care is looking to build a new-age seamless and private healthcare experience – with the aim of not just solving the problems but root causes as well.

Why Bold Care?

Given how common and widespread the inefficiencies the current, traditional system holds, Bold Care seeks to bypass the existing mechanism by offering an online-only platform that enables free consultation with experts and discreet delivery of allopathy and natural products for various men’s health problem statements – sexual health, hair care, daily nutrition – all in a single beautifully crafted experience, designed for the Indian man.

Moreover, the lack of existing medical alternatives for extremely common health and wellness issues, suffered by a large demographic, makes the market segment ripe for disruption: Allowing Bold Care to be uniquely positioned to tackle these inefficiencies, due to the comprehensive and holistic approach it has undertaken to solve systemic and pertinent men’s health and wellness issues. It’s objective lies not only in solving immediate, surface level conditions, but also focussing on solving the root causes of these problems. A tried and tested approach resulting in high customer satisfaction rates (85%+)

Our Stance

At Huddle, we’ve been very early believers of the market segment as well as the team at Bold Care. Our first interaction dates back to the pre-pandemic era, when Bold-Care was still at an ideation stage. Fast Forward to November 2021, we have witnessed Bold Care achieve product-market-fit, strong validation of its core use base, and consistent MoM growth. Bold Care’s progress so far is a testament to the problem at hand and signals strong execution capabilities of the promoter group.

Recent developments such as the SEBI Circular surrounding revamped ESG and Sustainability reporting are a welcome addition, encouraging large-scale enterprises to adopt tech solutions that aid in carbon reduction, ESG compliance, and Climate Education.
Carbon (Dioxide) is one of the building blocks of all organisms on Earth, such that it allows Earth to hold it’s energy. Carbon Sequestration is the process of capturing and storing atmospheric carbon dioxide. It is one method of reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere with the goal of reducing global climate change.   There has been growth in startups working on carbon capture/tech sequestration that capture CO2/ GHGs and utilize them to create value-added products and/ or sell offsets on exchanges.
Given the large depth in climate finance required, emerging forms of climate finance will be important for us to consider. For example, Refi (Regenerative Finance) is a movement focusing on the power of blockchain and web3 to address climate change, support conservation and biodiversity, and create a more equitable and sustainable financial system.
Energy storage and management for mobility & transport use cases have observed strong investor traction historically, and we believe this trend will continue in the next 3-5 years. This includes Electric vehicles as a category.

Agriculture has vast potential with respect to climate change. Building agri-food supply chain efficiencies will be very important to reduce post-harvest food losses. Hence, solutions that use technology to reduce food losses from farm-to-folk or provide cold-chain infra would be relevant to consider. 

 

Additionally, precision agriculture will be crucial to increasing farm yields, but the sector is vast ranging from farm advisory to Agri inputs to IoTs and deep tech hardware solutions. Hence, we will opportunistically look at this theme to scout good startups.
